Region continues to earn recognition

On December 6, 2011 America’s Health Rankings released their annual report which had Vermont at the top of their list as the healthiest state in America.

This is the fourth time in five years that Vermont has been ranked #1 on this list. The report noted that the number of smokers has decreased over the last 10 years and there is a high use of prenatal care services and a low incidence of infectious disease.

The report comes on the heels of some impressive honors for the region over the past year. In January Burlington was ranked #3 top foodie city by NBC. Also, earlier this year, Kiplinger listed UVM as one of the Top 100 Best Values in Public Colleges. In March, CBS listed Burlington as the #1 Happiest Small City. Two different Vermont towns were listed as “One of the Best Places to Live in the USA” by Outside in August and Men’s Health featured Burlington as a “Blues-proof City” in November.
